Starting in the Fall of 2015, MGCSO will be starting a new outreach initiative at Bancroft Elementary School in NW DC. Once a month, Georgetown volunteers will put together a science workshop for the 4th graders at Bancroft. The workshops will consist of short lessons with labs or experiments that will provide a fun, hands-on experience that compliments the 4th grade science curriculum. If you’re interested, take a look at this google doc and sign up for a date (or multiple dates!). We will be working with the same 20-25 students each month, and while you’re welcome to sign up for just one night, ideally we would love people to come consistently and get to know the Bancroft kids!
Workshops will take place from 5-6pm on the dates below. We will leave Georgetown at 4:15pm to get to Bancroft and set up. Transportation options will be coordinated in the days preceding the workshop.
5. June 8
Planners: Sign up here if you would like to plan and lead one of the workshops! This is a great way to practice lesson planning and we will be happy to provide you with resources! Note: please attend one session before signing plan!
