The MCGSO provides travel grants to biomedical graduate students to advance their scientific education by promoting attendance and presentation of their work at academic conferences and research forums. The MCGSO Travel Grant Program provides funding for biomedical graduate students to help alleviate some of financial constraints associated with travel. Each award can be as high as $850.
The Travel Grant Program is an annual program, allowing students to travel at any time during the full (non-academic) year. Applicants must have an active representative in MCGSO to be eligible for Travel Grants.
Travel Grant Officers:
Last name A – L, Phil Gross firstname.lastname@example.org
Last name M – Z, Tahiyana Khan email@example.com
- PhD students in the Biomedical Graduate Education (BGE) programs at Georgetown University
- Student must be presenting their own poster/talk or be a participant in a panel
- These awards are not to be used for students attending a course or a workshop
MCGSO grants cannot be distributed as a cash advance; instead, they function as a reimbursment. Please note that applicants will not receive funding for both a travel and course grant for the same conference, event or trip.
Travel Grant Submission:
MCGSO accepts travel grant applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. However, students must apply at least one month before traveling to allow time for the pre-approval process to be completed before travel. Because we only have limited funds for these grants, it is advisable to apply for a travel grant as soon as your abstract is accepted and financial need is realized.
